BRISBANE, Australia (AP) Wallabies hooker Jordan Uelese sustained a suspected ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the Melbourne Rebels' Super Rugby win over the Blues and is out of the Australia side to play Ireland next Saturday in Brisbane.

Rugby Australia said Sunday that the 21-year-old Uelese will have further scans on his left knee in Melbourne this week with a replacement player for the Wallabies squad to be confirmed Monday.

Meanwhile, Pete Samu has officially joined the squad for the three-test Ireland series after a release was agreed between Rugby Australia and New Zealand Rugby. The Melbourne-born flanker is now in contention to make his test debut at Brisbane.

Australia also plays Ireland on June 16 in Melbourne and June 23 in Sydney.
